(On the Duties of the District Office of the Interwar Czechoslovakia in Ensuring Information Services Using the Example of the District Office in Nová Baňa in the Years 1923 to 1934) – PDF

Abstract: District offices as state political offices performed Information service in their administrative district. It was managed by the head of the district office, and its purpose was to protect the security of the state and its population. It was performed on the basis of the Collection of Administrative Department Standards Part II., issued by the Ministry for administration of Slovakia and supplementary regulations of superior political and police offices. The aim of the study is to provide an insight into the duties of the district office in ensuring the affairs of the information service. It deals primarily with sending situation reports, monitoring the press from the point of view of state security, registration of persons important for state security, irredentism and anti-state activities, as well as registration of political parties. The study is based on archival research of the presidential agenda of fund the District Office Nová Baňa, fund Ministry for administration of Slovakia and fund Regional office in Bratislava. Where, using the method of written source analysis, all supplementary regulations to the Collection of Administrative Department Standards Part II., which regulated or supplemented the activities of the District Office in ensuring individual matters of the information service, were examined.
