Abstract: The study deals with the Jewish community in Spiš from the end of World War II to the Gentle Revolution. The first part of the study dedicate the position of the Jewish population in Spiš in the years 1945–1948. Attention is paid to anti-Semitic expressions, property rights problems, the emigration of the Jewish population and the renewal of Jewish religious communities in Spiš. The second part of the study deals with the Jewish community in Spiš during the socialist period. The text examines the attitude of the communist regime towards Jews in Slovakia and Spiš, further emigration of Jews and the gradual disappearance of Jewish religious communities in Spiš. The study also dedicate the voluntary assimilation of Spiš Jews in the period under review.
