Abstract: The article discusses models of history teaching. These models are divided into static (historical consciousness) and dynamic (historical thinking). The article further highlights the influence of the historical thinking model on the reform curriculum currently being introduced in primary schools in Slovakia (2023) and the Czech Republic (2024). However, this model is extended to include the dimension of pupils‘ attitudes and values that need to be developed in them. Finally, the article defines history according to the current curriculum requirements aimed at the development of historical literacy.
